I am the owner of Bi.Costa Rica Bike Tours, one of Costa Rica’s longest term Cycling operators, having started business in 1993, shortly after moving from California to CR.
Perfect timing to start the business, as the advent of the Internet offered a fantastic opportunity to showcase the wonders of Costa Rica to a wide audience, and with the growth of interest in Cycling, a great way to explore this spectacular destination.
Having started with just 10 bikes back in 1993, and now with 100+ in the current CR fleet and more in Nicaragua and Panama, the timing was right, but what really drove the business was proper service and attention to details.
As a cyclist myself, I know what we all look for on our cycling holidays.
Obviously, great biking stages are first and foremost. Better yet, if these can lead you through beautiful rain forests, down pristine tropical beaches, exploring typical villages full of friendly Ticos, trying the local cuisine at remote stops, and ending the day at a wonderful lodge.
Doing this by bike opens up the possibility to explore “off the beaten path” regions of Costa Rica, which most visitors don’t get to visit, and with the vast number of tourists overwhelming popular sites, biking gets us out of the crowds.
